Steve Yankee: was first heard on WMTE as a child in 1952, as a "fairly regular contestant" on The Radio Bible Quiz. He also remembers being interviewed by Steve Cole during the 1958 Forest Festival and doing a guest appearance as a "junior deejay" on Coke Time with Harvey Kirchoff. Steve's big break occurred several years later, when WMTE hired him to do a weekly 5-minute feature program called "50 Years Ago in Manistee," for which he was paid $1 per week.

Steve returned to WMTE in the fall of 1967 as Music Director, following a stint at WLDR-FM (Traverse City). He left WMTE in 1968 to work as a copywriter and booth announcer at WOOD-TV (Grand Rapids), also later working for WAFT (Grand Rapids). Steve now develops instructional videos and books for video producers and small video businesses as "The Video Business Advisor" in East Lansing, MI.
