James Sumbler, Sr.: purchased Manistee Radio Corporation (WMTE, 1340 Manistee) in late 1955 from original owners John Manwell and John Campbell. Jim came to Manistee from ABC-TV in Chicago. Previously, he was a DJ at WAIT (Chicago). He sold WMTE in ’62 and moved to Southern California and later Texas, where he did voice-over work. Jim retired to Southern California and died in 1992.
