Paul Carey: Paul Carey began his career in radio broadcasting at
WCEN (1150, Mt. Pleasant) in 1949 as one of the original staff announcers.
He hosted "Spotlight on Sports", a 15-minute sports show on WCEN each evening
in late '52 and early '53. He moved to WKNX (then 1210, Saginaw) in April, 1953
and to WJR (760, Detroit) in June, 1956, where he was a well-known sportscaster.
In 1973 Paul joined Ernie Harwell and broadcast Detroit Tigers baseball
play-by-play for 19 seasons. Paul also broadcast Detroit Pistons basketball
games for several years. He retired from broadcasting in 1991. Paul was honored
in 1992 by induction into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame. He divides his time
between the Detroit area and Florida.
